Our Supporters

Beginning in January 2008, local businesses have adopted our classrooms. They visit our rooms, read stories, and will have their class visit the business at the end of the year.

Thank you to: The New Copperfield's Bookstore, Aurelios, Pet Connection, Mosaic, Floor to Ceiling, and Citizens National Bank for becoming a part of our school!

The following community members and organizations have contributed the education of the students at MacArthur over the years. We appreciate the time and effort everyone has invested in broadening the experience and knowledge of our children.

  • Agnes Norton, A former parent, donated materials for special events and built beautiful book shelves for our library.
  • Cremer Lawn Care, Volunteered services to help prepare the ground for the outdoor brick maze.
  • Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis members have given money and time towards our wonderful gardens and fantastic outdoor tricycle track. They have also funded book/toy lending library materials.
  • Macomb Educational Foundation, Several grants have been funded to supply the library with books, the computers with software, classrooms with musical instruments/materials, farm field trip experiences and the giant salt water fish tank. In 2005-2006, MEF grant monies paid for each classroom to have a set of books about social skills for local city and county officers to read to the students on a monthly basis. Last year we have applied for materials to bring in physical education teacher, Linda Miller, to teach bi-weekly gym class.
  • Macomb Senior Living Center, Classes visit most Tuesdays from October to April to share singing and snack with our “grandma and grandpa friends.”
  • Macomb Fire Department, Fire fighters visit each October to teach each class about fire safety and the skills “Stop, Drop, and Roll" and host a fire house tour every February.
  • Mary Ellen Graff, Our volunteer librarian tells stories and reads books to classes two days each week. She maintains the organization of the school library.
  • National Wildlife Federation, Gardening materials and plants in the playground garden environments were funded with a grant in 2002.

  • The Pyles Family, Brad designed and constructed our new 10' dirt box addition to the outdoor play yard.

  • Sloan Valve Corporation, donated five automatic faucets to help make our restrooms age appropriate and safe for the students.

  • The Vallillo Family, professional musician, Chris Vallillo, has offered his musical talent to special events throughout the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 years.

  • WIU College of Education and Human Resources, Classes and individual students spend time in our classrooms and in storytelling and volunteering services for special events.
