Health Education and Issues in Health are coeducational courses.  One semester of health is required for graduation and either course will meet that requirement.

HEALTH EDUCATION                                       

1/2 credit (1 semester)
Grades: 10,11,12
Prerequisite: None (Not available if credit already earned in Issues in Health)
Health Education is a course designed to meet the needs of students who do not wish to study human sexuality.  Health topics discussed are mental health, personal health, chronic and communicable diseases, consumer health, environmental pollution, and drug use and abuse.

ISSUES IN HEALTH                                         

1/2 credit (1 semester)
Grades: 10,11,12
Prerequisite: None (Not available if credit already earned in Health Education)
Issues in Health is a discussion course designed to give students exposure to many aspects of health education.  Topics include issues related to human sexuality consisting of the reproductive system, pregnancy and childbirth, contraception, abortion, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS information, human growth and development, substance use and abuse, mental health and illness, personal health habits, nutrition and physical fitness, and the prevention and detection of cancer, stroke and heart disease.  Students enrolling in Issues in Health will experience informative classroom discussion integrating knowledge with decision-making.
